Bonus Depreciation Reinstated in 2009
The authorization of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act makes it much more affordable to finance the equipment you need. ARRA-2009 includes provisions that reinstate the popular Bonus Depreciation and Section 179 expensing allowance programs that so many equipment buyers took advantage of in 2008.
• Take advantage of the increase to the “Section 179” expense allowance that provides the ability to write off the entire cost of new equipment purchases in 2009.
• Equipment qualifying in the first year may also benefit from the 50% “Bonus Depreciation” deduction of the remaining purchase price (net of any Section 179 expense allowance, if taken)
• With 50% Bonus Depreciation, significant savings can be realized through depreciation deductions, which is calculated from the new cost and deducted in the year of purchase.
